2023 results and 2024 forecasts
On Wednesday March 13 Honua Honu Night took place it was an evening of debriefing on the Honua Honu adventure in 2023 with a few details on what is to come for 2024.
If you could not make it or want to relive this event that was even cooler than Beyoncé at the Stade de France this is the place to do it!
Let us take a block-by-block look at what happened in 2023 and see what is in store for this year!
Honua Honu Project
What happened in 2023?
The past year has been built on the same momentum as 2022 with a community that is gradually growing just like the Honu’s collection.
With the migration to MultiversX in the first quarter the arrival of new Honu had slowed down a little while the transition was finalized. Then things quietly picked up again with the added benefit of custom orders which are proving to be a real success.
135 Honu have been created up to December 2023 and 11 EGLD have been redistributed to holders via the giveaways held on the Discord server.
Added to this is 0.5 ETH during the period of existence on the Polygon blockchain and tons of other gifts have also been distributed (NFT from artists and partner projects).
On the partnership front I get a lot of requests which I turn down almost every time. The same aimless coins/NFT projects (the majority of contacts) are immediately rejected. But some great collaborations are born!
First of all, with DinoVox. Owners of the first 100 Honu received a freemint on the Permian wave and a number of benefits will be given to Honu owners.
We have also started working with the Barjos community and even though I am not actively involved in NFTC as I am not an artist I still enjoy highlighting this collective with a heart as big as a shell.
And, of course, you have seen Ms. Lilwhitecamera for the children’s storybook partnership! We will talk a bit more about that below!
And what about 2024?
To this day 148 Honu are already in existence and with the birth rate of the little carapace beasts going strong this number will continue to grow!
The 149th Honu will be donated to the DinoVox Foundation and the 150th will be the last of the First 9s.
The First 9 that are 9 in numbers (logical) are the first Honu to arrive on our beautiful island. They form the council that welcomes and helps new comers also manages life on Honua Honu and looks after its protection.
With the arrival of the last of the first of the nine (hard to keep up with all that!) governance will gradually be put in place. Each First 9 Honu owner will have voting right.
As always the roll-out will be gradual and I will keep you informed of progress in real time.

Next up is a collection dedicated to the association Brigade Animale Bénevole with Honu Ninja as its theme! All profits from the sale of this special series will be donated to the association.
As for the project itself a spin-off collection featuring the Honu’s enemies was in the works. Known by some feared by many they were due to arrive in 2023 but the twists of life being what they are everything was put on hold. But… that was just a setback!
Honu Arena
Because bashing on others is fun
In 2023 a total of 17,503 fights took place in the Honu arena on Discord.
1887 of these shell combats were launched by Honu Yautja and the most unfortunate victim was Honu who lost 31,705 life points last year. The poor thing!
As you probably already know this game mode is a test. The aim was to see if the community liked the idea and if there was interest. The answer is yes!
So what about 2024?
The game is coming in a web version (browser-based) and will enable much much more.
Honu owners will be able to take part in battles improve their turtle build items to help it attack and defend itself and lots of other things I will keep secret!
People who want to play but do not own a Honu will also be able to have fun. Here again I will keep the “how” a surprise.
The momentum for the game’s creation was very good in 2023 but I have had to scale things back considerably with the arrival of the children’s storybook.
This still requires a lot of work so the game will be on stand-by until the book arrives in your mailboxes!
But I hope to be able to present a beta version this year! As for the rest I will keep you posted as I go along – no promise of a date I might not be able to meet.
As I said above the Rag’s collection (the Honu’s enemies) was scheduled for 2023. Unfortunately that did not happen but do not worry! They are still out there lurking in the shadows biding their time.
Once in place this collection will allow their owners to come and have fun in the arena too. But once again I will say no more – let us keep a bit of mystery surrounding these rude and silly ragondins!
Association Honua Honu
2023, birth and expansion
In 2023, the association gathered 51 members and distributed €2,160 to 3 associations fighting for the survival and defense of animals.
I have put together a full report on the annual general meeting which I will let you read for full details.
2024, what comes next?
Two members joined us last week and we are building on the success of 2023!
The Honu Ninja collection will raise funds for the Brigade Animale Bénévole and the aim is to follow this up with one association per quarter.
A portion of the profits from the storybook will also be donated to the association to supplement its war chest.
The 2024 membership card offered this year to all members who joined in 2023 has been sent out. Designed in a competition won by Mikaelphotographie and lovingly printed by AlexPaulNice (who added a magnificent bookmark of his own) the card will be sent in successive waves throughout the year to everyone who joins us.

The Ulule campaign was a great success thanks to you!
119 books have been pre-ordered via the crowdfunding site and 13 via NFT.
3 have been offered as GiveAway and we will need 2 copies for the national library.
At present the order is being placed with the printer and the books should arrive at my home in early April.
The goodies are also being prepared and if there are no last-minute surprises all copies will be sent out in April as planned!
Once again thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this campaign and who continues to give us energy! Because we will need a lot more to complete the operation we will be able to take a breathe when you have the book in your hands!
So here in a nutshell the highlights of the past year and of the new one which began three months ago! The adventure is still in its early stages and there is no doubt that it is going to be a wonderful one with you at my side!
